Supporting the trades through scholarships

The Borton Construction Scholarship Fund was established by the founders of Borton Construction, Paul and Melissa Borsheim, in 2008 to support continued education in construction-related fields such as engineering, drafting, design, or other trade areas. The fund awards a scholarship to a high school senior from each Holmen, Logan, and Onalaska Luther high school who plans to pursue continued education in a construction-related field.

The three current owners of Borton Construction, photographed here: Paul Borsheim, Dan Miller, and Jim Fink – very much believe in giving back to the community that helped their company grow into the business that stands today. These scholarships provide an easy avenue for Borton Construction to give back to the youth of our community.

A lasting impact for generations to come

As Melissa Borsheim states, “We knew we wanted our focus to be on kids and by setting up this scholarship through La Crosse Community Foundation, we were able to maximize the lasting benefits that an endowed scholarship would provide for generations to come.”

The first scholarship awarded from these funds was made in 2008, and the three scholarship funds have since awarded a total of over $43,300 to qualifying high school seniors. Talk about having a major impact in our youth community!
