18 local nonprofits seek help to survive…

July 15 marked our first grant deadline that included the new Emergency Survival Grant. Different from the La Crosse Area Emergency Response Fund, the Emergency Survival Grant was created to get nonprofits at risk of not surviving the pandemic emergency, unrestricted support. Because that’s what most really, really need right now: funding for operations.

COVID has forced many nonprofits halt programs and shift operations to an extremely stripped-down operating model. Limited or no revenue is coming in, and yet, they still have fixed expenses to pay for such as rent, insurance, the director’s salary, and more.

Eighteen local nonprofits submitted requests for emergency survival funding in July, with requests totaling nearly $400,000. If July was too early for some nonprofits to show COVID-related financial losses, they can apply before our next grant deadline, October 15.

Although our hope is to help as many nonprofits as possible right now, our granting resources are limited as well. That’s why we’re asking for your help today. If you believe our community is a better place to live because of the value our local nonprofits add, please consider a contribution today.
