$177,195 in Competitive Grants Awarded 1st Quarter 2018

Through a competitive application process, La Crosse Community Foundation Board of Directors approved the following grants from the General Fund and several Field of Interest funds in first quarter 2018:

  • $40,000 to YWCA La Crosse for Justice Circles which provides an alternative approach to addressing conflict in La Crosse School District middle schools
  • $24,026 to The Parenting Place for a Northside Library literacy-based playgroup and Newborn Behavioral Observations at Mayo Clinic Family Birthplace ($2,100 from the Rudy and Jean Schnurrer Fund)
  • $22,500 to various organizations for youth baseball programs (from the Corinne Zielke Fund)
  • $21,000 to La Crosse Public Education Foundation to help support the implementation of an International Baccalaureate program at North Woods Elementary School
  • $15,000 to La Crosse County Historical Society to finish digitizing its collection in an online public database
  • $10,000 to the Aids Resource Center to help pay for the installation of telemedicine technology for psychiatric services for their La Crosse-based clients ($7,300 from the PMJ Fund)
  • $10,000 to the School District of Onalaska to purchase new marching band uniforms (from the Harold E. Lemke Fund)
  • $7,500 to Benedictine Living Community of La Crosse to renovate their outdoor courtyard for residents
  • $6,400 to RUSH WI West Soccer Club for Boys & Girls Clubs youth sponsorships (from the National Youth Sports Program Fund)
  • $6,350 to La Crosse Area Family YMCA to purchase an InBody 270 System for their LIVESTRONG cancer survivor’s program ($3,565 from the Harold “Pete” Isenman Fund)
  • $6,220 to the Franciscan Spirituality Center to offer a retreat for survivors of human trafficking in our region
  • $5,450 to Great RIver Folks Fest for special instrumentalist programming at the Boys & Girls Club ($450 from the Maureen L. Kinney Fund)
  • $5,250 to the Onalaska Middle School PTO to purchase standing desks for students (from the Harold E. Lemke Fund)
  • $5,000 to GROW La Crosse to expand their summer farm programs and add an after school garden education program (from the Myrick Hixon EcoPark Fund)
  • $2,499 to Mid-West Music Fest to develop a festival app for attendees

More than $421,000 still remains available for competitive grants from the General Fund and Field of Interest Funds in 2018!  The next application deadline is April 15.
