Besides writing, the toughest thing about a grant is finding one. But, thanks to the La Crosse Public Library’s Nonprofit Resources Center, the non-profit community has gained access to the tools it needs to find grant opportunities. Funded, in part, by a $25,000 grant from the La Crosse Community Foundation, the library offers directories, both print and digital, to find grants, training for using the directories, and quarterly nonprofit resource events.

Elaine Stanley, Nonprofit Resource Center Coordinator explains, “Partnering with the La Crosse Community Foundation to create the Nonprofit Resource Center at the La Crosse Public Library will provide a much needed service for our community. Not only will assistance be provided in navigating the wealth of material available to grant seekers, many opportunities will be also be provided to network and collaborate with area organizations.”

Kelly Krieg-Sigman, executive director of La Crosse Public Library states, “As the La Crosse Public Library moves forward toward our goal of facilitating the creation of knowledge in our community, I can’t think of a better stepping stone than the establishment of this Resource Center. It could well make the difference between success and failure for any number of worthy projects well into the future.”

With increasing need for services in the community, and the new normal of doing more with less, this community resource will become an essential tool for all of the area’s nonprofits.
